Responsibilities Anticipate guests' needs and ensure service exceeds expectations Present menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, beverages, and other restaurant functions and services Monitor and observe guests dining experience to ensure guests are satisfied Take food or beverages orders from guests.
Serve food or beverages to guests and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required.
Describe and recommend wines to guests.
Check guests' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Bring wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses and pour the wines for guests.
Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee.
Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters and take them to kitchen for cleaning.
Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.
Collect payments from guests.
Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
Clean tables or counters after guests have finished dining.
Roll silverware, set up food stations or set up dining areas to prepare for the next shift or for large parties.
Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware.
Lead to achieve desired results in high quality service and experience Attend staff mandatory trainings Perform other duties as assigned Requirements/Skills/Attitude Minimum of 1 year of serving experience preferred but not required in upscale or high-end restaurant Professional, articulate, friendly, reliable and must have a clean self-image Possesses and exhibits the drive to provide exceptional service Able to recite menus with proficiency Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hours; bend, push, pull, lift up to 30 lbs.
